Sinusitis – A Brief Overview and Effective Remedies

Sinusitis simply means inflammation of the sinuses. Sinuses refer to cavities in the facial region of the skull that are enclosed by mucus. Sinus infection may either be due to bacteria or viruses or even due muscular arrangement near the nostrils. Hence, the major root cause for the sinus is the accumulation of mucus that results in growth of bacteria.

  • Remedy With Cumin Seeds and Honey


Roast 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds. Powder them and add 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix well and consume the potion daily to observe results.


  • Steam Inhalation


Steam inhalation with Basil leaves for 5 to 6 times daily is guaranteed to provide convincing results. This can also be combined with Pranayama (Breathing exercises in Yoga).


  • Turmeric Rice For Nasal Blockage


Take about a handful of cooked rice and add half tsp. Turmeric to it. Take a nice soft cloth and bundle up the hot rice in it. Place this bundle over the nose and lie down for a few minutes.
